Commercial, Industrial, Value Added Ag Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

North West REC (NWREC) encourages the efficient use of electricity in all energy applications in your business operation. As an incentive to our commercial, industrial and value added Ag customers, NWREC offers energy efficiency rebates on the installation of qualifying energy efficient lighting and motor load installations.

Lighting Rebates:

Lighting represents one of the largest energy consumers in commercial, industrial and Ag buildings. The following energy efficient lighting fixtures/lamps installed in a commercial, industrial or value added ag building that is served by NWREC qualifies for lighting rebates as follows:

$100 Per KW (1,000 watts)

  • Compact fluorescent bulb (CFLs)
  • T-8 and T-5 fluorescent tubes

$25 Per KW

  • Reduced wattage metal halide (low bay) lamps

Variable Speed Motors and Soft Start Devices:

Over half of all electrical energy consumed in the U.S. is used by electric motors. Improving the efficiency of electric motors and the equipment they drive can save energy, reduce operating costs, and improve our nation's productivity. We encourage our members to make energy efficiency a major consideration when you purchase motors.

As an incentive to our customers, NWREC offers a $20 per horse- power rebate for new variable speed energy efficient motors installed in a commercial, industrial or value added ag building that is served by NWREC.

Soft start devices installed on an existing motor which is installed in a commercial, industrial or value added ag building served by NWREC also qualify for a $40 per horsepower rebate. (The rebate is based on the HP of the motor that the soft start device is connected to.)

In order to qualify for the rebates listed above, the following terms and conditions apply:

  • Person or business making the rebate request must be a member-owner of NWREC and the energy efficient lighting and motors needs to be installed on NWREC's electric system.
  • There is a maximum rebate per member-owner under this program of $50,000.
  • All rebated equipment needs to be new.
  • The rebate does not apply for seasonal loads.
  • Copies of the invoice for the rebated equipment needs to be submitted to NWREC and a representative from NWREC will inspect the installation prior to the rebate being paid to verify that it has been installed and is operating.
  • Rebates apply to lighting or equipment that is purchased and installed after the effective date of July 1, 2007.
  • NWREC reserves the right to modify or terminate this program at anytime without notice.

Rebates listed are effective 07/01/2007
