Electric heating, cooling and water heating usage all qualify for the lower rate.

Increased use of electric energy has helped stabilize rates for all REC members. The improved load factor gives an economical advantage to, and a more efficient use of, the entire system. Since 1985 we have had, and will continue to offer, a reduced sub-metered Switch Makes Cents rate of $.035 per kilowatt-hour for all electricity used for the water heater, electric heat and air conditioning wired to load management. In order to qualify for this rate, the primary heat source must be electric heat.

North West Rural Electric Cooperative's Single Phase Service Rate is available to farm and home member-consumers for all farm and home uses. It is also available for commercial, industrial and temporary services for all uses including lighting, heating and power.

• Facility Charge of $15.00
• First 300 kWh per month @ $0.114 per kWh
• Next 200 kWh per month @ $0.070 per kWh
• Over 500 kWh per month @ $0.062 per kWh

The minimum bill is $15.00 per month plus appropriate taxes and franchise fees.

Members who have electric heat as their primary heat source in their home or commercial or agriculture building, may qualify for Switch Makes Cents electric heat rates. Some of the guidelines for qualification include:

• At least 10 kW of electric heat
• Sub-meter to record kilowatt-hour usage
• Air conditioning and water heating load must also be controlled

The "all electric" heat rate is applicable for homes and buildings that have electric heat as their primary heat source without any other backup heat.

• All Electric Heat Rate: $.047 cents per Kwh per month for all Kwh sold for heating, cooling and water heater usage.

The "interruptible" heat rate is applicable for homes and buildings that have electric heat as their primary heat source and agree to have a load management switch installed.

• Interruptible Controlled Heat Rate: $.035 cents per Kwh per month for all Kwh sold for heating, cooling and water heater usage.
