Energy Efficiency Rebates for 2010
$768,000 Patronage Returned to Members
North West REC is pleased to report that the Board of Directors has approved the retirement of patronage again this year in the amount of $768,000. It will be made in the form of a credit on electric bills dated December 20 for those current members who were members of the Cooperative during the year that is being retired (1997). For those people who are no longer members a check will be issued. With this payment amount a total of $16,579,000 will have been returned to members in our 70 years of existence.
This money is from margins, or profits, from the Cooperative's business, used for a number of years as working capitol, and then returned to our members based on the dollar amount of electricity purchased during that year.
North West Rural Electric Cooperative
We are a consumer-owned rural electric cooperative distribution utility that provides electric service to over 9,000 accounts. Our members are made up of farm, residential, commercial, industrial and irrigation customers, and are the reason we exist. We strive to provide our members with reliable rural electric power that is competitively priced and other services that enhance their quality of life.
While the majority of our service territory is in Sioux, O'Brien, Plymouth and Ida Counties in northwest Iowa, our service area also extends into Lyon, Osceola, Clay, Cherokee, Sac, Crawford and Woodbury Counties. Our service area has grown through the years, due to consolidations of smaller Rural Electric Cooperatives. We have three offices and four service centers. Our newest building, the Orange City headquarters, was built in 2001. Walk-in office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Customers may call us at 1-800-383-0476. To report an outage after hours, please call 1-800-766-2099.
